Not saying that they intentionally faked this failure, but it probably did provide more effective marketing than what they planned. It's certainly the first thing I heard about it.

Never give a demo using a live system unless you are prepared to be embarrassed, but always give a live demo and use the embarrassment to prove it’s real.
