Watched the presentation but it's just a load of complaints and German BS
These are the same nincompoops that still haven't got their head to using card payments (I mean, most of the Germans have, but these people on the presentation obviously haven't)
I can buy the privacy concerns, the rest sounds just like someone who thinks cards still run on the clack-clack machine
"How will integration with merchands happen?!" The same way it happens everywhere, by pulling your big boy pants and writing code. Or buying solutions like a card machine that supports the system
Lots of countries already have this. Like Portugal. You can pay by QR code. It's a solved problem
It's only hard for those hopelessly helpless Germans who have turned off nuclear plants to buy gas from the mafia
"Oh the hardware is not European" Well, France invented the payment card with a chip to increase security, while Germany invented... nothing. Maybe the first part about "sovereignty" is not being an useless luddite
"But what about the trust in the system" The trust in the system relies on limited liabilities, evolution of threat models and the fact that law enforcement can and will knock on your door if you do something funny. (As opposed to bitcoin where if you lose your wallet you're SOL)
Edit: oh sorry I know what Germany invented. The precursor to the GDPR an blurring houses on Google Street View because some 90 y.o. people were scared
