Ask HN: Is Google search broken now?

3•mikewarot•4mo ago
I searched for "hellfire missile speed" (which, by the way, is about 995 MPH according to Wikipedia[1])

Apparently this along with my search history somehow triggered a terms of service violation.

I was just curious after watching Hank Greens video about the latest UFO video.

> I searched for "hellfire missile speed"

Were you looking for an organic search result or an AI response?

Using your strict quotes in Google I got 995mph from Instagram and similar results.

I uploaded a (slightly broken) screencap of the results: https://postimg.cc/Mn9vFQBY

Your post doesn't have enough information to understand what question or problem you're wanting to communicate.

I feel lots of search can be better replaced by LLM

Just like this one

The Hellfire missile travels at approximately 950 mph (1,530 km/h or 425 m/s). This is roughly Mach 1.3, making it a supersonic missile.

The Hellfire is an air-to-ground missile primarily used by attack helicopters like the Apache and predator drones. Its relatively high speed, combined with its precision guidance system, makes it effective against armored vehicles and other ground targets. The missile typically has a range of about 5-7 miles depending on the variant.

Google itself using LLM before showing any results, definitely its not going anywhere anytime soon.
