Pop Checkmail on Gmail Web to be discontinued starting Jan 2026

If you use Gmail to pull in other email accounts, that’s ending January 2026. After that, you won’t be able to check any non-Gmail inboxes on desktop at all.

They’re not offering any replacement - just telling you to use the Gmail mobile apps if you want to keep syncing other accounts. No desktop option, no alternative. Huge downgrade for anyone who relied on Gmail as their all-in-one inbox.

POP3 is outdated and should've been withdrawn years ago. IMAP provides everything POP does and more.
