I am positive there's a sub-arc in bad history/religion dedicated to historical figures with less extant evidence than a certain jew in Palestine, recorded by Josephus 60 odd years after his passing, but for who we retain confidence they exist (noting that curing scrofula aside, kings weren't generally worshipped as gods, although some were sanctified)
There's also a version of Oscar Wilde's quip from "the importance of being Ernest":
"To lose one King, Mr. Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose two looks like carelessness".
