Trump's peace plan is everything Israelis dreamed of. But it's a fantasy

Here's the actual deal:

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c70155nked7o

I don't see any reason why Hamas wouldn't accept it.

ceejayoz•4mo ago
Making Trump the de-facto leader of the territory seems intended to give them at least one reason.

> "Gaza will be governed under the temporary transitional governance of a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee… with oversight and supervision by a new international transitional body, the "Board of Peace," which will be headed and chaired by President Donald J. Trump"

TimorousBestie•4mo ago
And we more-or-less know what he wants to do with it, thanks to his loose-lipped son: develop Gaza into yet another Babylon along the Dubai model, with Palestinians supplying the “cheap labor.”
watwut•4mo ago
Huh? From analysis I have seen, it would be a capitulation getting them nothing real in return.
AnimalMuppet•4mo ago
Well, it would get them an end to being killed, but also the destruction of Hamas as an organization with any power in the Gaza Strip. The question is, will they keep dying (and keep having everyone around them also die) in order to keep their dream?
mrtksn•4mo ago
You know what, I hope it works out. However Hamas gets a "trust me bro", Netanyahu gets a "Behave!", Palestinians in general get "You poor thing :( " so its not really a resolution, there are no guarantees that it will hold but it is a good starting point to discuss the thing in a civil manner. IMHO that's needed now for this fascinating country of Israel and the aggrieved people of Palestine.

Once the bloodshed ends there are so many things to discuss. The world will need to come to terms with genocide and ethnic cleansing, is this how it going to be from now going on or will Israel pay for their deeds? Is terrorism an OK tool now or will Hamas pay for its actions? Will the world recognize that the issue didn't start out of the blue on October 7 attacks? Will there be a fair resolution or at least credible attempt for such a thing?

This is going to be a defining moment for the West. If the western societies accept that It is OK to use mass surveillance on the population to target enemies of the state and it is OK to kill 10 civilians people for every combatant or of it is OK to label everyone a fair target if they are not in complete submissions. Whatever the outcome is, it will come home. Communications monitored(Chat Control), mass surveillance enemy of the state detection and pushing people to their best behavior(Palantir and Larry Ellison's position on the matter) and military on the street are the seeds that will grow if it is normalized in Palestine and Israel.

Also, on Twitter I keep getting relentless antisemitism and anti-muslim stuff from white nationalist(self defined) accounts so something else is also brewing. Can't tell how much of this is Elon's choice and how much of this is some interaction profiteers defeating the algorithm but it is relentless.

Anyway, interesting times ahead.

Hamas' rejection of the peace proposal is clear evidence that Hamas hates Israelis more then they love their women and children
