How many companies are actually making money (aka a positive cash flow) from deployed AI projects right now?
What we actually have today is mostly just speculation and hope and lots of venture capital being consumed at a very high rate.

It seems this week had a ridiculously high amount of calls about the AI bubble and it’s inevitable popping. Did something noteworthy happen?

That's a good question. I can't think of much news events, just people like Bezos and Doctorow saying stuff.

OpenAI’s numbers _might_ have been the trigger.

These kind of people make their living freaking out kids. I mean if you are that full of yourself, that you think your thoughts are critical to saving the lives of "millions and billions" of people why would you go and talk to a kid about it?
Too many of these kind of pointless people being propped up. Monetizing fear and anxiety 24x7.
>a third of the stock market is tied up in seven AI companies that have no way to become profitable
is giving a bit of a false impression. The top 6 companies in the US market, Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Facebook and Amazon are very profitable. Maybe they'll lose a few billion on AI bets but that's kind of different.
