I'm Chuck Wolfe, a Software Engineer from Philadelphia.
I built a weightlifting tracker app for iOS called GymGod. I started this project after getting frustrated with my progress in the gym and not wanting to carry a notebook around. I tried a few existing workout tracker apps but found them either bloated, too rigid, or too expensive.
GymGod is a streamlined app that lets you:
- Create your own workout routines - Follow pre-built programs - Or just log exercises ad hoc (sets, weights, reps)
It integrates with Apple Watch/HealthKit for live heart rate and workout duration tracking, and includes a simple rest timer (because I’d often lose focus scrolling during rests).
I noticed that simply tracking sets and weights had a big psychological effect, it made me want to push further and consistently beat my previous numbers.
From my past software engineering roles, I focused on building clear feedback loops into the app, like metrics that show progress over time, ways to review and edit past entries, and lightweight in-app documentation (tooltips - using Apples TipKit lib) so users can understand how things work.
I’d love feedback on usability, what feels intuitive, and what could be improved for serious lifters.
