Ask HN: Are 'Comments' section in personal websites/blogs useful?

2•sahilarora535•3mo ago
Hi HN, While trying to add a feature enabling comments on my website, I was wondering whether it's useful to have comments by strangers on your posts, and what do you think? Does your blog/website have comments section at the end, and if yes, how has that served you or your blog? If not, why do you think it's not worth it?

troll abuse, ad spam, malspam, soc.eng, bot abuse, CnC semaphores, out of band file transfers, oh and some people attempting to communicate re: blog content.
JohnFen•3mo ago
It depends on the blog. Comments are a critical part of mine -- as with HN, the value is in the conversations among readers. But that's not universal. There are lots of blogs where that isn't the focus, and commenters aren't so important.
