> One of those critical materials is graphite, a mineral used in the electrodes of batteries used for electric vehicles and in stationary storage for the grid. Currently, all battery-grade graphite in the U.S. is sourced from abroad.
IDK how many times I've mentioned anodes made from hemp bast fiber are as good or better than battery anodes made from graphene. Bast fiber is already naturally branching.
Graphene can be made from graphite or any other source of carbon.
Graphene can be manufactured by flash heating unsorted plastic.
Graphene can be manufactured with hydrogen plasma and unsorted plastic.
Graphite and Graphene can be made from CO2.

Unless there's low-carbon shipping (as would be incentivized with a recently sabotaged global carbon tax on shipping), importing mined graphite across the ocean (from wherever) cannot be sustainable.
