The Unification Church, founded by Sun Myung Moon in 1954, is not recognized as a Christian denomination - its theology departs fundamentally from essential doctrines of Christianity.

Christianity holds Jesus Christ as the unique, incarnate Son of God and sole mediator of salvation. The Unification Church teaches that Jesus’ mission was incomplete and that Moon was chosen to “finish” it.

This is like Japan’s Scientology/Mormanism.
