One of the wonders of neighborhood and small-town newpapers is the opportunity they afford to get smaller matters into print, often as human interest. I've been in a couple, for human interest and business news. Without malice, as far as I can tell, the articles always got significant facts wrong and had real differences of viewpoint. Collecting info, composing it, editing it are collectively hard. We hate ingesting bad info, but try generating good info yourself.

That's even before agendas, owners, and axes to grind come into play.
