Especially with the rise of AI, the dystopian future of war is clearer than ever. Wherein no longer do masses of humans need to believe in the cause enough to risk their own life. Soon enough, very powerful people lacking in compassion will be able to just type, "dispatch a fleet of drones in take-no-prisoners mode to seize control of $region" into the War app on their phone, and it will be done.
The fishing nets are creative for this moment, but in no way any sort of robust sustainable defense...
