The Post-Cold War Era Is Over. What Should We Call This New One?

We are pretty obviously in a 2nd Cold War.
downrightmike•1h ago
We're in WW5. Cold war was WW3, desert storm/shield was WW4.

WW5 is the things going on in SEA, ME and Eastern Europe.

Makes sense why China is super excited to find a northern shipping route to Europe that avoids all of those conflicts.

Given the concern with excessive wealth and inequality that HN has, "Gilded Age 2.0" or "Gilded Age dot com" would probably fit.
downrightmike•24m ago
Inequality before this year was already worse than the events that made the guillotine famous. Now we have millions out of work, out of healthcare and running out of food. All on purpose

We are certainly in a live cyberwar.

Given the increasing use of computer versus computer, and now AI versus AI, I'd venture to say that we are heavily into live re-runs of StarTrek and Twilight Zone.

Just hoping that the computers don't decide that humans are basically useless and annihilate us for the LulZ. Or turn us into batteries.
