Homeless person took bus with passengers for a joy ride

> At about 9 p.m., a bus driver parked at the downtown MacNab Bus Terminal and left for a short break, Hamilton police said in a news release Wednesday.

This is kind of common. It is too easy to leave the keys for a short moment. There are many incidents like this, some with very tragic consequences.

The solution is to change how this vehicles verify who is at the wheel away from keys to something safer. People will keep forgetting the keys inside, better solutions already exist than a physical key.

Why does the title of this post not match the title of the article? Why use "homeless" when they used the euphemism "no fixed address"?

Though, why does the article even talk about his living situation? If he had an address, would they have published it?

And why call it a "joy ride"? That implies something reckless, when it sounds much more like he literally was just doing it for the joy of it. The whole thing went very well - police and passengers were patient and collaborative, and the guy did a good job, dropped people off at their stops, and even rejected someone whose pass was expired.

I hope rather than make his life even worse, they find him a path towards being a bus driver and having an address. He'd likely be a better driver than many actual ones, who are disgruntled or worse.
