From "TikTok has turned culture into a feedback loop of impulse and machine learning" (2025) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45200337 :

> Vine had 6 second short form video in 2012.

> Vine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vine_(service)

> Short-form content: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short-form_content

Did Vine have that impact back in the day?

There's a lot going on here: restored videos marked as "Archived" but like, are they associated with the original usernames? And they're dreaming up some complicated process to relink users to those accounts? Good luck with that. Is everyone's old 'profile' magically available now on there if there's restored videos in them? Wacky, and challenging.

What I really care about right now is if the URLs for those archived videos are restored, bringing back a large chunk of 404ed links to the internet. But maybe that's a pipedream too.
