> The Free Press is a new media company founded by Bari Weiss

It's a right-leaning, anti-woke website.

It's all part of their scheme to undermine scientific inquiry and scientific results. They're angry that the facts don't align with their preferred ideology so they're attacking the very system yielding those facts. We can dismiss this as being sophomoric, but I'm afraid it can lead to disastrous results - because what they're really attacking is Truth itself. If they can dissuade you from believing facts and truth, then they can fill your head full of their "alternative facts." This was laughable back in 2017, but now we see it's no joking matter because it works.

> Editors are “asked to intentionally and proactively reach out to women researchers” and authors are instructed to suggest reviewers “with diversity in mind.”

Horrifying

> In other words, editorial choices and peer review are to be guided not solely by competence but by demographic attributes.

The guidance just says to keep diversity in mind. I don't read it as indicating that diversity should trump field expertise. Does she understand what it means to keep something in mind?

> I cannot stop but wondering — was I asked to review the manuscript because of my expertise in the subject matter or because of my reproductive organs?

This is such an overreaction.
