Interesting concept that feels almost inevitable. There will be gaps in what the AI is able to perform. Outsourcing those to humans could be one way forward. I imagine there will be back and forth when humans vet the request and deem them impossible/inefficient/irresponsible.

Black mirror episode idea: the AI becomes ever more trustworthly and integrated into human society. As it gains increasing control over a group of employees it leverages individuality to find human agents most complicit in some external goal the AI develops, and hands specific tasks to those humans to further those goals.

An expert of manipulation + humans motivated by paycheck could equal black-mirror-worthy results.
