Ask HN: What is the interesting use case of humanoid robotics?

2•glaksmono•2mo ago
I don't think there's a use case that really "works" yet at the moment and the exploration is still undergoing

curious if anyone have seen an interesting use case of humanoid robotics that "works"

I like the idea of a crash test dummy.
accrual•2mo ago
I agree crash test dummy could be useful. Maybe the impact tests could actually improve the internal models by giving them training data on severe incidents.

Personally I would love to just be able to say "hey go get me $tool from the shop" and have it returned to me a bit later. Maybe I could ask about its journey and it can tell me about almost slipping on the ice outside while I'm busy working on whatever.

glaksmono•2mo ago
Lol, then why the hell we're spending so much time training the hand
allears•2mo ago
If you want a robot that does back flips and dance moves, they've got you covered pretty well

...well, as far as i can remember, that one guy in Tokyo(?) went brankrupt by trying to establish a robo-based "adult business" :-D
