Someone on hackernews iirc had wrote something which I am paraphrasing but let me try to share what they said

```
I used to spend hours debating on comment forums etc. and spending time on these platforms (iirc) But If someone important enough were to happen, I would know it myself if it might impact me.
```

This isn't to say that not knowing anything at all is good but rather that you would most likely be prepared to deal with every thing and that if you still wish to spend time on these things then having a better signal:noise ratio then jeez twitter would be great.

Personally I believe that HN kinda holds that threshold of political talks where I do not feel alienated by what's happening but I am also not too invested.

Atrioc (youtuber) is another source I have and that's about it and this is coming from the guy who was obsessed with news of sorts watching geopolitics happen live lol

Also, if someone is on twitter or reminisces it. Do not. I personally wasn't really ever on twitter I guess but I watch Dolan Darkest and maybe hackernews might find it cringy but he summarizes in 1-2 minutes everything happening in twitter of sorts (freeien's reddit pic on twitter going viral or something and similar?)

Like I spent a lot of time today on hackernews but mostly watching atrioc + dolan can be 20 mins and I kinda enjoy it and that's about it. Not sure how much about hackernews since my consumption of hackernews goes through periods...

Twitter has been toast for quite some time now, well before the Elon effect...

I think pretty much every social platform has transitioned into the same "edgelordy-ness" we dealt with on smaller community forums & IRC back in the day...

Nobody talks about it on platforms out of a fear of retribution, but a handful of people are not meant to have this much control over massive groups of people...

It always devolves into a scheme that only serves the top & only profit at the top.

Twitter was a very useful real-time information tool, that slowly degraded into a payola promo haven, just like FaceBook, Instagram, and now even TikTok...

The time for useful tools of that kind has surpassed us, as most people on these platforms lie about their botted & payola boosted audiences & views.

Social media simply got too big, there aren't even categorized topics one can subscribe to anymore without it all being blended into a random timeline of everyone's posts... That's the final trumpet call for it, something totally different will need to come along and take over until it too becomes overran monopolized as an emotional manipulation tool.

A far better way to promote skills & business is to paint your info on the side of your car now... Far more people will see it than your social account, without needing to pay a membership or for to boost each post. shrug
