Great format for sure.

As a generalist and hard worker I feel your pain. You need to recharge your batteries and stop defining yourself through work. Motivation will slowly come back and statically your next project will be even more likely to succeed.

You can always pivot in the future, success is not a straight line.

Take care.

July 2025, then posts a few days later :) maybe he just meant done with the startup life and kept blogging. Hope you find that stability.

Devs need to understand this is really common and nothing to be ashamed of.

You can do as many do and be very careful with your personal time and work commitments, or you can push it hard until you burnout.

If/when you burnout, know that it’s like being a marathon runner. You may just need a break. You may get injured in a way that you think you’ll never be what you were. You may have spurts again where you come back. You may trip and fall back into burnout.

All of this is going to happen to some of us. You can be as ambitious and/or giving as you want. But physically and mentally, there are times in which you’ll need to take a break, learn to forgive yourself, and do whatever you need to do, and that’s ok.

Don’t give up and cut life short because you felt you were responsible for ruining or ending other people’s lives. I believe that God is there for you, and if you don’t believe that, then know someone out there believes that you can turn it around, because I do.

Taking startup failure personally is crazy. So many factors out of your control.

It’s rarely a personal failing, it’s just business. Product market fit, learn lessons, get back on horse when ready.
