Agree with all except for listening to anything from Netflix.
The Netflix blogs are EXTREMELY well written and convincing. The problem is, everyone that listens to them, ends up coding up a solution they don't need.
RX - suddenly you have one team member writing a bunch of RX stuff that used to be fairly simple. Now it's all RX flows and no one understands it.
Retrying like mad - Now you have random lock ups because something is slightly misconfigured and instead of revealing why, some process is busy exponentially backing off for 6 hours.
Chaos Monkey - Probably the most needed, but actually not used anywhere. lol
I'm not saying they are not good ideas, but half the time you end up with someone understanding 5% of the problem and applying it to everything.
