Our family embraces counter-restoration of old cars. Do the minimum to make them tolerable, then drive them.
Son #3's daily is a 63 dart - yanked from someone's weed patch. He welded tags to make the floor. He turned a stack of warn jeans into seat and door covers (w/ door pocket). No head liner. Sloppy high mile 225 but has a 2bbl now.
We have a 61 Sunliner that is a lot like driving soviet farm equipment. Rockers shot. Last owner welded a trunk over the previous trunk which led to the gas tank strap mounts breaking free - which was totally awesome. The ancient Y-Block sounds like a real engine when it drives.
