Title edited by me from "'I'm leaving this country': Migrant workers call for immediate action in wake of attacks"

It's all well and good saying that migrants and other lower-income workers have to go somewhere else, but who will take their place doing that lower-income often distasteful work? Somebody has to work in the fields, clean commodes, dismember meat, ... and it's been a (very?) long time since Maddie and Connor wanted those jobs if they ever did.

We might be able to price it correctly now,b or have enough incentive to automate or change it.

The status quo is never improved by relying on importing people who will put up with crappier conditions.
