Is this really novel? This is basically all personalization works on websites - they’re just doing it with a different dataset. But also, the personality tests that bucket you into certain labels are effectively doing the same thing, although less rigorously since it’s more human driven rather than algorithm driven.

For a consumer oriented personality test, I think this is the first that works this way.
I hope framing it in this way could lead to better epistemics about personality types. Personality types are of course pseduoscience, but people get caught up in confusion along the lines of 'how can you say being INTJ is not real when I read a description of what it means to be INTJ and I liked it??' very often.
You are correct that this is a very basic machine learning technique
