I built Momento, an iOS app that lets you search your photo library using natural language.
I started working on this because I was frustrated with Apple Photos search (especially when I did not remember when or where I made the photo) and it often took a lot of time to find a specific old photo.
Momento performs a one-time local index of your photo library and then lets you search using queries like “woman with red hair and a dog by the river”. It returns matching photos from your library.
All processing happens on-device using Core ML. Photos aren’t uploaded anywhere, and search works offline. It's Apple-only for now.
I initially built this for myself, showed it to a few friends, and after getting feedback decided to polish it and release it publicly.
The app is freemium, free to use for the most recent year of photos with the fastest model and a paid unlock for the whole library and more accurate models.
As this is the first public version I'd love to have feedback on UI/UX as well as search quality and your overall opinion on this.
Thank you, Felix
