Why does Apple Ecosystem suck so much at search?

I've had several text conversations with friends in the past where sensitive information (not hipaa, but hospital or caregiver state") was exchanged. The conversant context is specifically searchable and the requestor name searchable, but no results. Why is iOS local device search so broken.
