“A rockstar engineer is defined by the outcomes they repeatedly enable.”

Calling people rockstars is usually counterproductive, but this definition at least anchors it to repeatable outcomes instead of individual brilliance. It shifts the focus from heroics to leverage, from who worked late to what kept working after they left.
