For better or worse, I don't find the argument compelling.

Yes we have more lawyers and yes we have fewer industrial training films. But industrial processes are not conducive to short training films...you aren't going to get up to speed with SMD soldering in three days with $100 worth of equipment and modern...and modern manufacturing doesn't require a constant supply of entry level semi-skilled laborers (assuming the manufacturing is even happening in the US).

The kind of vocational training that exists is for jobs that are in demand: teachers, nurses, fire-fighters, etc. and for white collar jobs that people with money will pay to train for whether or not those jobs exist: recording studio technology, coding bootcamps, etc.

Finally, there's more new vocational video than ever...it's on Youtube. There just aren't so many jobs that offer upward mobility.
