Although it's an R rating movie this point is valid...when the Amazon Prime movie The Wrecking Crew showed up recently, I thought with the two star's public social media personas making them sound like social justice warrior morons; that the movie would totally suck. I, was totally wrong and the movie was excellent! They left the preachy, self-indulgent, virtue signaling out and focused on great content, directing, writing and acting. They made a great bad guy ass kicking movie that most people enjoy watching.

When Prime can make excellent movies like The Wrecking Crew and several other excellent ones we've watched over the years and many or most of Hollywood's movies are social justice wannabe crap movies; it tells me Hollywood is over.

Same goes for Paramount too when we tried a free trial recently.

Same for Disney too for that matter.

I suspect that studios, within possibly a film cycle or two, are quite aware of what makes a good return on investment and what doesn’t. One problem is that Hollywood pays (far) more attention to international sales than before and what sells “there” might be less interesting “here”. So if they make stuff that fails to sell anywhere they’ll give up on that kind of thing.

So it comes down to what the international return of “family” movies are vs what’s being made now. If you want mild stuff, throw lots of cash at the box office or streaming service. And you have to outspend the rest of the world.

Oh, and Lord of the Rings had a lot of violence and discussions of Evil. And that’s ok? What about the Harry Potter flicks, as I recall lots of people thought them inappropriate at the time (witchcraft)?

I guess we need a new "Hollywood for America" then, since as you aptly pointed out, the one we have now is catering to overseas tastes more.

Judging from all the Christmas shows and movies, there are streaming services that are family appropriate. It’s just that they’re smaller.
