One of those counterfactual moments. Like many other 5:2 practicing people I did it, and I moved on, but the weightloss was real to me, and I have managed to keep below my peak.
Other forms of dieting did not "stick" and so if its no better, I kept at it longer and I got to the place I needed to be. People need to remember we are not algorithms and so things like satiation, personal satisfaction, CBT moments, are as important in dieting/fasting as the actual approach. If 5:2 works, is kept to as a plan, because 5 days you don't care, then it's a "win" even if its no better in outcome.
There's "better" and there's "practicable and achievable" and I have to say, it was the latter.
My peak weight was 98kg. current weight 5+ years in 84-87 with slow upward drift. Drugs probably would do better but a non-drug 10% decline in overall weight made me happy, even if its "no better than the alternatives". I manage my weight better now because I know I can. I learned. when I did 5:2 I didn't know how.
Mosely over-sold it? He's dead. he can't defend himself. What a crap way to die too.
