Fair — "understands" is generous. It produces text that sounds right. Whether that counts as understanding, honestly I don't know and it doesn't change our approach either way.

The difference between right and sounds right probably should change your approach. There's a reason you don't see humans wearing badges "Warning. Humans can make mistakes".
