Hey HN — I'm one of the builders behind this.
We use Claude Code heavily at our lab (FDF Labs, based in Asunción, Paraguay). Over time we kept running into the same problem — skills and agents scattered across hundreds of repos with no central place to find them.
So we built Cult of Claude as an internal tool first. Aggregates from 515 open source repos, auto-updates daily, fully searchable by category.
At some point it felt wrong to keep it internal. Put it online, made it free.
Happy to answer any questions about how it's built or where we're taking it.

I dislike that the source of the skill is not linked directly.

So skills are the new mcp?

think of it like a kitchen
MCP is the equipment — the knives, the stove, the fridge. Connects Claude to the tools it needs to actually do things.
Skills are the recipes and technique — how you hold the knife, when to deglaze, why you never crowd the pan.
You can have a fully equipped kitchen and still cook terrible food. Skills are what make it a restaurant worth eating at.
