This project took me about a month to complete, and it's only in an "alpha" state I'd say, but you can download and play videos from YouTube, and there are many extensible APIs for creating and managing both apps and user accounts.
It requires yt-dlp to function, so no, I did not reinvent YouTube video downloading. This is also not the most advanced thing I have ever created, but I figured I should post about one of my projects here for more recognition.
I hope someone finds it useful or interesting! It works well on my TV. Planned features include remotely uploading videos to the box (while allowing for simple string substitution from many video files if you have seasons or episodes), a Music application, and other remote management / administration features.
Currently, it is usable with only five buttons, has an account system, password login, the ability to add new apps, video sources, types of remotes, and other system UI features via a "data/" directory. Open to ideas or feedback! I'll create documentation for these features if it is requested or desired.
