The fact a book is needed to use a text editor just might explain why so many won't touch it.

It's really a philosophical issue: Should computers accommodate humans or should humans accommodate computers?

Vim is an example of the latter. And if you subscribe to this, shouldn't you be writing CPU opcodes (for "power" and "efficiency") instead of using a language compiler? And AI should be right out.
