Ask HN: Will this setup work or is it just adding complexity?

1•classicpsy•1h ago
I am creating a website that will be a hub for finding and sharing useful products and resources. As many people use this type of site for promotion, and over time these sites turn into a directory, I have created a mechanism that will allow a single free post, after which the user has to contribute to get the next post credit. Much like Reddit's 9:1 rule but on a bit different scale.

The restriction only applies to content that is the poster's own and if someone is just sharing something they found (not something they made), there's no restriction at all.

Maybe one day this rivals Product Hunt and Indie Hackers, haha.

So, my question is: is this setup too complex, will it create friction, or is there a better way to do this?
