Are all these data centers a way to try to substitute for promised progress?

The scale of the data center buildout makes no sense. The only thing I can think of is that Sam really latched onto it when there weren't any huge breakthroughs that he could easily achieve.

It's a fully commoditized service. Selling compute is an incredibly lucrative business and investors want in, it's just as simple as that.

Is it though? I feel like that has yet to be proven in a realistic market. Whatever is going on now, doesn't feel sustainable or realistic.
