Fun fact: I cannot easily override the NYT paywall for this article; archive.ph did not work for me this time. Maybe NYT did something to it, they apparently require JavaScript to be enabled; not sure if it's a new thing. But anyway: with that paywall, I have no idea what the article is about. Anyone more lucky than me?

Nope, not just you - I couldn't either but I only tried for a few minutes. I really hate the NYT and it's dumb paywalls. I saw the paywall and closed it immediately until I saw your comment and tried a few sites I know about and none could pull it up.

If only there was some sort of thing you could give them to access the article. We could use that thing to trade for goods and services. In exchange for doing work, you could get paid in that thing, and then you could give them that thing and they'd let you access the article.

If only I could come to them and give them some sort of thing just once in exchange for this specific article, then sure. But when I need to give them some sort of thing and subscribe to giving them even more such things for the years to come, and I need to use a communication device that transmits my voice using radio waves – crazy concept! – to ask them to stop taking my things because I don't wish to give them those things anymore, then... I would rather not, thank you.
