Show HN: Find what users want by analyzing app reviews

Hi HN,

I’ve had a goal on my mind for a while: to automate the process of figuring out what people actually want.

I’m building a set of tools to find app concepts worth building and niches that are overlooked or badly served.

The first piece is Seam. It connects to Google Play and can read thousands of recent reviews for any app, then pull out the main complaints and pain points. The idea is to help you figure out exactly what to build if you want to compete with an existing app or address the same niche.

You can ask it to aggregate the complaints and strengths across a bunch of similar apps too. This makes it useful for analyzing competitors, or even your own published app, although, to be honest, that wasn’t my original goal.

It’s completely free for now. You get 3 messages without an account and 30 free messages if you create one.

I’ve started exploring a few related ideas as well. One is analyzing social media posts, basically looking for people asking things like “How can I do X?” or “Is there a tool for X?” and finding recurring pain points.

Another is automating demo video creation to see which concepts get the most engagement on social media, also trying to look at past Product Hunt and Indie Hackers submissions to help predict which concepts are likely to succeed too. Adding support for Trustpilot and the App Store is on my list as well.

I think combining all of these data sources could be really useful for systematically finding concepts to build that people already want.

I’d love some feedback on the overall concept and to know whether I’m the only one interested in this kind of tool before investing more time in it.

Thanks!
