I take lots of screenshots, and when working with Markdown, I find it such a pain to add a screenshot when I am writing. Apps like Confluence do this well, but I just want to use the editor on my local files, no cloud service.
This is what eventually drove me to create Markdawn. Just a simple and easy editor that requires no installation and is available when you need it. Add as many images and tables as you want, and then save the file. Work with rich text, no split-pane hassle. It works offline, has no backend, and persists state in case of accidental closures.
There are likely better Markdown editors, but this is available when you need it.
