Show HN: I built my 15-year-old game idea in a week with AI

3•ashitlerferad•29m ago
The game is Distro Fighter, and the WARS management mode is the part I'd wanted to build for 15 years but never had the time or resources for. With AI handling the tedious and brain-rotting monotonous parts, I built in a week what would have taken me months.

In WARS you claim a fighter (your distro), pick its desktop and packages, train it, and enter it into a persistent fight circuit that runs around the clock on a fast game clock.

It's a management sim, so the circuit is a living league that runs whether anyone is watching, the way a Football Manager season does. Every fighter a player enters is a real build someone put together, and the boards blend the whole league. The fight engine is deterministic (seeded, replayable) and weight comes from actual install sizes.

WARS is in closed beta, but HN gets its own door: https://distrofighter.com/wars?beta=hackernews-2026 - the arcade at https://distrofighter.com is open to everyone.

Promotions happen at midnight tonight (weekly) and the seasons (migration) are quarterly. With a massive surprise at the end of each year.
