I'm building low power long range Wifi Halow mesh network for cases that traditional centralized infrastructure doesn't work well. For example future EdgeAI and robots need to talk to local sensors and each other directly. And they may move to new places, need to form network on demand. But I didn't see any people are interested in this area. Now I already implemented 802.11s + batman-adv on MCUs which is compatible with OpenMANET, which linux based systems can directly talk to MCUs in hundreds meters or even over kilometers through mesh.
