I built a news app that interrupts me 3 times a day, at most

I usually read new all day on and off and still misses the important story somehow that actually affect me, so i built a system that can take care of this problem.

Thalmas keeps a short list of what you use, hold, follow or believe i.e. ("uses Postgres database", "holds TSLA stock"), It reads a pile of feeds and asks three questions about every story: does it touch something on your list, did that thing actually change, and would knowing it today change what you do. If all three passes, you get the push notification. Otherwise it lands on a quiet shelf. There is a hard cap of 3 push notification per day

You can paste a package.json, requirements.text, go.mod, Cargo.toml or Gemfile if you use ruby/rails for app development. It uses your direct dependencies as the list, then subscirbes to each repo's releases feed. A CVE in something you actually ship becomes one of the three push notifications. That's what the link i provided above is for: paste something, see what it would remember and watch. No account needed for /try link.

It's not only for developers. It also takes a broker's position export, or just a plain list of tickers or companies you follow, one per line. I.e. "Holds NVDA" turns an earnings surprise into your news; a company you dont hold and don't use discarded quietly.

It stays affordable because the model only sees a tiny fraction of story-user pairs. Triage happens once per story globally, then a free lexical+vector filter kills most pairs before any per-user call. Quality is checked against a golden set, and every push someone rates as useless becomes a regression test.

Stack: Fast API, Postgres + pgvector, one Hetzner box, native IOS app.

Free tier shelves what matches you and $10/month gets you the push notification for what is important to you. No ads

Known problems: repos with tag-only releases give the model nothing to read, so a release with no notes can't be judged properly. And the first week is mostly silence, which is the product working, but it looks exactly like the app being broken

Ask me anything about three questions or the economics
