They are missing the point of recycling and reuse. By primarily using "energy use" their math looks good. But that isn't why most people recycle. We recycle because we don't think it's a good idea to create a toxic plastic item that lives for many years as trash in the ground.

If all we cared about what how much things cost, we'd do things the way we currently do them because we have a way of naturally finding the cheapest way.
