Word of caution with this approach - one can semi-irreversibly damage their metabolism with extreme diet changes.

The typical Keto diet has a lot of followers, but the biggest problem is the saturated fats portion. Also, meat is subject to the biomagnification phenomena, pesticides and toxins get concentrated and magnified the higher up the food chain you go.

The great results keto dieters receive in the beginning, will likely be met with dismay in their later years when diagnosed with with artherosclerosis, cancer and cardiac problems.

I propose the Veto diet, not keto. It relies on high protein - low carbs from vegan sources of protein. Now I use rice protein extract since pea protein irritates my stomach. Same low carbs as Keto diet. Results ? Most all the multiple guys I went to high school with more than 54 years ago have either died, or have had heart attacks, or bypass surgery. Me ? At 72 years, cholesterol under 140 (was under 105 for most of my life). Cardiac ultrasound recently plus carotid ultrasound: Normal. My cardiologist says I am the healthiest patient she has, does not want to see me again for 2 years, only to keep tabs on me. Master's swimmer. Blood work ? Always normal.

Sure you can argue that high carbs is actually what hurt all the others, but my carb intake was not low, likely "medium" carbs most of my life.

Also, be careful with avocado or guacamole. I almost poisoned myself with extremely high potassium levels (hard on the kidneys).

I agree with the author that Monkfruit extract is Absolutely the best sweetener, the best I have ever found, although expensive, especially at retail stores. Monkfruit survives 450F cooking temps without a hitch. I buy directly from Monkfruit Corporation in 1 kg. pouches for about $215 a kg, WAY cheaper than retail. Erythritol and most all polyol "alcohol sugars" have been found to be harmful to health.

Consider my results ancedotal ? You decide.
