For most people, home networking is one of those things where you get it set up once through the clunky GUI, forget about it, and hope that Linksys/TP-link/whoever keeps it up to date for you. You don't learn or retain the technical intricacies of networking bc you never really needed to. Recently, though, I started thinking "In the age of autonomous AI swarms, that's probably not good enough."

So I got an OpenWrt One router, at first only thinking "I'd rather have a more open, configurable platform than depend on BigCorp"...

...but once I received it, I realized I could give a local agent SSH access to it and let it go to work optimizing, securing and generally interpreting my network and its traffic. And, of course, now I can configure anything via English.

Unbelievable game changer. Get one yesterday.
