Show HN: Turn public repos into works of art

https://www.habibicode.org/artrepo
2•nicocarsui•54m ago
Hi HN,

I am the creator of Artrepo, a free tool that lets you turn any public repo into a work of art in a programmatic and deterministic way:

Every artefact you see is tied to the file structure and the commit history of the repo, and the same repo will always turn up the same image.

OG style is built by each commit, like a pointillist painting, with dots of various sizes being painted and deleted.

Estampe creates a landscape with its valleys, lakes and sky. Water signifies no activity over an extended period.

Woven takes inspiration from the persian and kilim carpets, and is a symmetrical construction through the commit history.

These look cool. Tried to render github.com/torvalds/linux but it errored out somewhere, might have been too big haha.

I like how it shows it stepping through each commit as it generates the art, like an animation. I tried it and it made a picture that kind of looked like a top down view of a city.
