Yes, but I don't think we've fallen. This is who we are. We were doing the same thing in Vietnam as we're doing in Gaza. Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea. Slavery, Jim Crow laws, lynchings... The entire country was built on the genocide of Indigenous people.
Not to minimize Gaza and Zionist terrorism though. This is the most heinous thing I've witnessed in my lifetime.

What is even more shocking is that some of the schools there are run by Christians, and it's the pro-zionist Christian organizations in US who are too happy to support Israel and IDF campaigns to go and destroy them systematically. Not just as a result of the recent war, but ever since they've been ideologically captured to somehow support the state of Israel. I had noticed this was ramping up since the early 2000s already.
