For those using huge amount of tokens monthly for dev work, why do you need it?

2•why_is_my_floor•49m ago
I can't even use 1b a month because I review everything LLMs write.

I even used AI to code my own harness in C and my own VSCode like IDE in C++ (I hated how slow it felt) and I still used under 1b the months where it did most of the coding.

Just wondering how/what these guys claiming to use a full Claude/Codex 20x subscription are burning it on.

Edit: Also, I never use subagents.

I try to be creative with them. I sometimes ask the AI questions like how to take the thing I am working on to the next level, "ultrathink", "see the bigger picture", and those runs usually give better results than the narrow ones, and they cost tokens. Most of mine go to reading, not writing: a plan review last week spun up about 26 agents reading the repo and git history, then a skeptic agent tried to refute every answer with file:line and overturned seven. One runaway run hit around 76 agents and ate a whole 5-hour window. That is what made me cap parallelism and be more observant of my usage.

Can you break down how this works. Your main agent is spawning 26 subagents to summarize a huge repo / code changes.

And it gets back 26 summarized reports.

Then another subagent is reading those summaries without seeing the full code directly and giving it a pass/fail?

I built a programming language that LLMs can't use
