Show HN: Scroll from your own skeleton to the edge of the observable universe

Hi HN!

I made this to help improve visualisation for a meditation I practise where you picture leaving your body moving outward in stages until you are beyond space-time. It’s helped me get through some really tough times by putting things in perspective.

You start as a skeleton by the pyramids at Giza and scroll past Earth, the planets, the stars, the Milky Way and the galaxy clusters to the edge of the observable universe.

It’s built with real data - 9,096 stars (Yale Bright Star Catalogue), 43,463 galaxies (2MASS Redshift Survey), asteroids (JPL), Earth (NASA Blue Marble) and Giza (Sentinel-2). The cosmic web and the faintest galaxies are generated.

Runs in the browser with three.js and WebGL 2 with no sign-up or tracking. Images are GPU-compressed and load only near their stage which cut peak GPU memory from 1.1 GB to 258 MB.

Hope you have fun playing around and would love to hear what you’d like to see more of!
